Reproductive Health Service Providers (x2)

Duty Station: Mardin or Sanliurfa Province

RET International was founded in 2000, by Mrs Sadako Ogata, then High Commissioner of UNHCR, to address the dire need for education in emergencies in fragile contexts for vulnerable young people affected by displacement, violence, armed conflict and disasters.

Job Description:

The Health Specialists will work in one of RET’s safe spaces for women and girls in Sanliurfa or Mardin Province. With the key objective of protecting persons at risk of Gender Based Violence (GBV), RET is implementing a project to increase awareness of women and girl’s right and protection mechanisms, reduce the prevalence and harm of GBV, and provide medical, emotional and referral support to survivors of GBV in women safe spaces. The safe spaces ensure women’s and girls’ access to a wide range of services by providing emotional, psychosocial and medical support, and improve their livelihood and integration through psychosocial, life skills, vocational, intercultural activities, information dissemination and awareness raising.

Health Specialist’s Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify settlements of vulnerable women and girls in the catchment areas of centre-based activities

  • Establish a Women and Reproductive Health unit, assist and provide medical counselling for individuals and groups

  • Provide health-checks, and pre- and post-natal care if applicable

  • Support the psychologists in the identification of vulnerable and traumatized beneficiaries, and refer serious cases to partners and other specialized organizations

  • Carry out daily field visits and conduction of awareness rising sessions on available services, reproductive health, hygiene, pre-and postnatal care, protection from various diseases etc.

  • Open and maintain a file for each beneficiary (based on the RET International file template)

  • Ensure that all activities (counselling sessions, training events and social activities) are duly recorded

  • Report internally to the Center Coordinator on weekly achievements

  • Other duties as agreed with the Centre Coordinator

Required Skills and Experience

About you

  • University degree or advanced training/course in nursing, medicine, gynaecology, mid-wife

  • Working experience in a field relevant to the position

  • Able to communicate verbally in English, Arabic, Turkish and Kurdish is a plus

  • You have to hold a Turkish citizenship or residency or valid passport with valid visa (the residency application will be required at the moment of the recruitment)

  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, working with different groups, partners and nationalities.

  • Respective and supportive team player

  • Strong commitment to humanitarian principles
