RET International was founded in 2000, by Mrs Sadako Ogata, then High Commissioner of UNHCR, to address the dire need for education in emergencies in fragile contexts for vulnerable young people affected by displacement, violence, armed conflict and disasters.

Job Description:

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Center Coordinator is responsible for managing, coordinating and implementing all activities in RET’s Women Cultural Center and to meet the project’s targets and key performance indicators. With the key objective of protecting persons at risk of Gender Based Violence (GBV), RET is implementing a project to increase awareness of women and girls about prevention and protection mechanisms, reduce the prevalence and harm of GBV, and provide medical, emotional and referral support to survivors of GBV in women safe spaces. The safe spaces ensure women’s and girls’ access to a wide range of services by providing emotional, psychosocial and medical support, and improve their livelihood and integration through psychosocial, life skills, vocational, intercultural activities; information dissemination and awareness raising.

Women Center Coordinator’s Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Coordinator in the detailed planning of and reporting on the women center activities

  • Coordinate and supervise all women center activities (counseling, awareness raising sessions, outreach activities, vocational training, social & recreational activities)

  • Manage, monitor and assess the implementation of the activities with regard to key performance indicators, in close coordination with the Project Coordinator

  • Ensure that all activities (counselling sessions, training events and social activities) are duly recorded

  • Carry out field visits and support outreach & awareness raising in the communities

  • Report internally to the Project Coordinator on daily / weekly / monthly achievements

  • Set the daily / weekly / monthly work plan for subordinate staff

  • Conduct meetings with the staff as needed

  • Monitor budgeting, expenditure and expense tracking activities throughout the project, in close collaboration with the Project Coordinator

  • Promote capacity building of the team, particularly for protection / prevention of GBV

  • Advocate and plan for professional development for all subordinate staff as needed

  • Meet regularly with partners providing services and information to women and girls in order to update service mapping

  • Maintain the relationship with other key stakeholders in the project location

  • Ensure services offered are of high quality and meet the needs of beneficiaries

  • Contribute to the creation of a positive image and long-term credibility of the organization

  • Ensure a positive working environment and good team dynamics

  • Carry out other duties as required by the Project Coordinator

Required Skills and Experience

About you

  • University education or advanced training/course in a relevant field

  • Experience working at international development / humanitarian programs highly desirable (in paid or voluntary capacity)

  • Experience in Project Management

  • Fluent in Turkish

  • Able to communicate both verbally and written in English

  • Any other language is an asset (Kurdish, Arabic)

  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel)

  • You have to hold a Turkish citizenship or residency or valid passport with valid visa (the residency application will be required at the moment of the recruitment)
