Turkey: Local Operational Officer (Gaziantep, Turkey)

Free Press Unlimited is currently seeking to hire a part-time L**ocal Operational Officer** to assist in the implementation of the local capacity building programme, starting from 1 May 2016. The contract (30 hr/week) will be for a period of 4 months with a possibility for extension. The Local Operational Officer will report to the HQ office in Amsterdam and will work closely with the team in Amsterdam according to the designed planning of activities and clear division of tasks.

Main job responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Helps in arranging logistics, accommodation and venues for training according to planning;
  • Monitoring of timely and smooth progress of activities and reports any immediate or foreseeable difficulties;
  • Assistance in communication with participants and beneficiary organisations
  • Assists in equipment purchase and distribution;
  • Help desk, assists in trouble shooting;
  • Helps to keep a pleasant and conducive working atmosphere for the participants and experts;
  • Reports results and progress of all activities with the rest of the whole team;
  • Manages the local budget and documents and administers the local expenses to be used for the financial reports to the donor;
  • Helps to ensure that the local team reaches its targets and deadlines efficiently and timely;
  • Co-monitors security threats, reports on possible incidents.

We’re looking for a professional, enthusiastic and driven individual with:

  • Minimum high school degree in administration or other studies:
  • 3 years experience in project management or event management – both operational and administrative;
  • Professional representation and service oriented competence;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic (essential) and strong Turkish language skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Good understanding of budgets (administer income, expenses, cashflow) and logistical processes;
  • Flexible, creative, reliable and independent worker and a collaborative team player;
  • Excellent work ethics;
  • Residing in – or willing to reside in – Gaziantep, with a valid residence permit in Turkey (essential);
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the region (if needed) and to work in the weekends occasionally.
