JOB CONTEXT :
While considerable relief efforts are deployed by Government of Turkey and its humanitarian partners (UN and NGOs) to support refugees with a wide range of services, HI needs assessments conducted from October 2015 to January 2016 identified critical gaps to be addressed in terms of access to livelihoods opportunities and services, notably as far as rehabilitation services and psychosocial support are concerned, for people affected psychologically and/or physically by the crisis and their household.

YOUR MISSION:
Under the management of the MHPSS Technical Advisor, and in close collaboration with the technical advisors an FTA (MHPSS and Rehabilitation) and program managers:

He/she will support his/her line manager in ensuring the implementation and development of a qualitative strategy of intervention for the mental health and psychosocial support. The focus will be made on the MHPSS community-based intervention consisting in the empowerment of the communities and the development of it supportive resources.

Tasks and responsibilities :

  • Supporting the MHPSS TA and program manager in analysing mental health and psychosocial issues / needs of people benefiting from HI’s MHPSS community-based intervention
  • Responding to these needs by supporting the team in the design and implementation of an appropriate intervention focusing on the empowerment of the communities supportive resources
  • Supporting the follow-up, continuous analysis of community mechanism, needs, resources and the effect of our community based intervention to propose appropriate technical adjustments;
  • Participating in the recruitment of MHPSS community-based staff;
  • Training of the MHPSS staff on technical aspects
  • Contributing to the continuous technical supervision of the community-based team through regular meeting and guidance, development of individual action plans to improve technical quality of intervention when necessary; etc.
  • Ensuring regular field visits on outreach intervention areas to ensure on the job support and on-the-job training of frontline workers
  • Contributing to the elaboration of any technical tools or documents

CANDIDATE’S PROFILE :
Psychiatrist, psychologist, psychosocial or social worker degree with experience - Psychiatrist, psychologist, psychosocial or social worker degree with experience

Mandatory: Spoken and written proficiency in English and Turkish. Arabian is an asset
Professional experience in clinical support to vulnerable people or in the humanitarian field, preferably on the field of vulnerability and/or disability and/or outreach community-based approach
Proven ability to advise on disability/vulnerability/MHPSS issues
Experience in adult trainings
Familiar with MS Office (Word, Excel) and internet

Desirable : Project management skills would be an asset. Capacity to analyze a complex project environment aiming at strategic outcomes.

  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills;
  • Open and interested in disability and vulnerability issues
  • High diplomacy, cultural sensitivity and security awareness;
  • Ability to work under high pressure and without constant supervision;

Based in Gaziantep

CONDITIONS:
• Turkish residence permit
• Starting date : May 2016
• Length of the contract: 12 months
