Turkey: MEAL Coordinator (Syrian Nationals)

Qualifications and Education Requirements: Preferred bachelor graduate in business management or information technology or statistic science.

General Work Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in implementing Monitoring and Evaluating Frameworks which brings together all the surveys, assessments, consultations, monitoring and practicing in research activities, preferably within an NGO environment. Preferred statistical background and understanding plus some project and team management experience. Experienced in creating and implementing Needs Assessments is also an advantage.

Skills :

§ Languages: Good in English (writing –reading –speaking), other languages will be desired especially Arabic, Turkish

§ Computing:

o Proficient in Microsoft Office including, excel, word, outlook etc.

o Database like Access \ SQL

Abilities :

§ To monitor targets and project progress and evaluate project success and results from achievement

§ To support the planned activities for integrating a high level of partner and beneficiary accountability across the Syrian Projects.

§ To lead the running of the MEAL system including activities; data collection, data entry, database management and data analysis;

§ To provide graphical feedback to management of standard indicators for all sectors comparing information over time and among field sites

§ Demonstrated experience in applying quantitative and qualitative/participatory research methods

§ To manage and mentor junior staff members.

§ To carry out responsibilities and make decisions independently.

§ To research relevant subjects independently

§ To contribute to donor proposals and reports as required

§ To show commitment to social justice and the mission of Syria Relief as an organization

§ To demonstrate commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace

§ To communicate efficiently with multiple teams\employees of different backgrounds or nationalities

§ To work overtime as required.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the SYRIA RELIEF Syria Response MEAL System from the Antakya Office.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of assessment teams and assessment framework and methodologies.
  • Coordinate with the relevant MEAL sector groups or coordination bodies.
  • Work with programming teams to assist with tools development, checklists, and monitoring forms, sector-specific log frames, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and plans, and selection of indicators and targets.
  • Support the MEAL Coordinator in the implementation of programs evaluations, including planning itineraries, training field staff for data collection and ensuring learning from finding and recommendations are communicated to managers.
  • Provide support to partners to review their reporting mechanisms and monitoring data.
  • Support beneficiary accountability across all programs in keeping with the Accountability Framework.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits as appropriate.
  • Support training on data collection and beneficiary accountability and other MEAL related topics.
  • Assist the Information and Database personnel to ensure that data is being managed promptly and effectively and is being communicated across all programming and operational teams.
  • Ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter and Red Cross Code of Conduct.
  • Comply with Syria Relief relevant policies and procedures.
