Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization of international solidarity based in France. Founded in 1991, SIF is a non-profit and non-political organization that intents to help, to bring relief and to protect the lives of those threatened by natural disasters, armed conflicts or by economic collapse. SIF intervenes around the world through operations of emergency relief, rehabilitation and development. SIF provides its help in respect of the cultural diversity, without any distinction of origin, religion or gender.

SIF is recruiting an Advocacy officer (M/F) to be based in its Ramallah office, and cover advocacy for SIF in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission in oPt and the advocacy department in SIF Headquarters, the Advocacy Officer will:

Missions and activities:

  • Develop, update, and implement SIF’s advocacy strategy in the oPt
  • Design and deliver innovative and effective advocacy initiatives, in accordance with SIF’s advocacy strategy, and frequently in collaboration with partners
  • Monitor and analyze the political and operational environment in the oPt and identify trends and opportunities for advocacy
  • Integrate SIF’s advocacy work across the entire oPt, including regular liaison with and travel to the mission in Gaza
  • Build and manage constructive relationships with advocacy collectives, partner NGOs in the oPt and France, and advocacy targets
  • Represent SIF to external advocacy stakeholders, including participation at advocacy working groups and relevant clusters and lobbying political representatives
  • Draft background briefings, fact sheets, press releases, lobby letters, opinion editorials, and substantive analytical reports
  • Ensure coordination with the Communications, Marketing, and Programmes Departments, both in HQ and in the oPt
  • Work closely with Programme Officers to include advocacy aspects in operational project proposals

Profile:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. international relations, political science, law, development studies, journalism)
  • Relevant experience in advocacy, policy, and campaigning work, including knowledge of how to use advocacy tools, such as research, lobbying, public campaigning and media, to influence a political agenda
  • Experience of representing organizations, as a spokesperson, in lobby meetings towards diplomats and political representatives, and towards the media
  • Ability to work in a sensitive political environment and handle sensitive issues with tact, discretion, and judgment
  • Compelling and precise written and verbal communications skills in English and French
  • Understanding of issues and context in the occupied Palestinian territory

Salary:

  • Wages to be defined according to profile + per diem
  • 1 year contract
  • Guesthouse
  • 2 days of paid vacation per month
  • Fly ticket provided, at the beginning and at the end of the mission (only for the country of origin)
  • Vacation period of one week, each three months (salary maintained)
