Position Summary:
The Program Director – Media will be responsible for managing a Department of State-funded, high volume broadcast media development project based in the Middle East. The position is contingent upon program award and funding.

For the duration of the program.
Reporting and Supervision:
The Program Director – Media will report to the Chief of Party (COP) and oversee Program Managers and Program Coordinators.
Primary Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identification of potential new media development projects (“activities”) and local media project partners;
- Identification of potential new projects to counter the influence of violent extremist groups on local target audiences;
- Participation in the design of activity proposal documents, including project justifications, political context and background descriptions, project work plans, implementation timelines, monitoring and evaluation plans, and budgets;
- Review of grant documentation for compliance with US Government Federal Grant Regulations, including review for compliance as Fixed Amount Awards to Non-Governmental Organizations;
- Participation in the development of broadcast media, social media and media research project activities;
- Development and maintenance of strong working relationships with a range of indigenous media outlet organizations;
- Management of varied personnel, including Creative Associate program staff members and individual technical broadcast media consultants;
- Development and review of activity deliverables;
- Management and oversight of activity finances; and,
- Other responsibilities as requested by the COP.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Political Science or a related discipline;
- At least six (6) years of project and/or grant management experience, including project design, preferably on U.S. government-funded media development projects;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project partners and media sector stakeholders;
- Previous work experience with international donors/NGOs, preferably in transitional and post-conflict environments;
- Excellent written and spoken English with experience in quickly generating high-quality written reports;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in multi-cultural environments; and
- Ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Public Administration, International Relations, Communications, Political Science or other related discipline;
- Proven experience with management of international broadcast media development projects and Countering Violent Extremism-focused projects; and,
- Verbal and written fluency in Arabic.
