Make Music Matter works in countries that have been deeply scarred by conflict, HIV/AIDS, and violence against women. Music has always helped people around the world to overcome hardship by providing comfort and consolation, and by helping them to directly address the most divisive issues facing their communities. Through our efforts, music also contributes to the prevention of violence and public health issues, and to raising awareness.
Project Summary:
Basmeh and Zeitooneh and Make Music Matter is looking for 1 music producer for its project “Healing in Harmony.” Working in tandem with a trained psychologist and music producer, participants write, record and professionally produce songs about their emotions and experiences. The process has a profound effect on both psychological healing and the restoration of a supportive, healing community. Our artists are advocates, publically disseminating their music through local radio broadcasts, social media, community concert, and CD distribution, reducing stigma.
Tasks:
- To work with the client artists, help to shape their ideas into melodies, words into cogent lyrics and record their performances in order to create a full production and completed song(s) out of each viable idea at each production stage for all applicable music styles: writing, recording, production, mixing and mastering.
- The ability to organize and help to maintain a growing and ongoing library of songs at various stages of production by numerous artists with the help and guidance of Make Music Matter’s data manager.
- The candidate will categorize them by MMM’s protocol on an external hard drive and cloud storage system with translated lyrics and any applicable photos.
- After each 3-month programming cycle, the candidate will work with a Make Music Matter representative/lead producer to select 10 songs per cycle that will receive extra production services from external partners of Make Music Matter.
- The candidate will then maintain these selected songs with the intact ISRC Code (International Standard Recording Code, to be supplied and embedded by Make Music Matter’s external partners) in a separate library and prepared for dissemination.
- In this instance, dissemination will include but not be limited to: preparation of mp3’s and CDs for radio broadcast, streaming opportunities and the participation of community outreach performances.
Required Experience:
- To demonstrate musical ability and be someone who can empathetically work with a wide variety of artists at various skill levels in order to obtain their best performance.
- Must be able to work diligently and proficiently in a high-pressure environment as both a songwriter and track writer using programmed instruments under the guidance and curated mentorship of the lead producer.
- Must be able to demonstrate rudimentary ability on piano or keyboards with an understanding of basic chord progressions and possess a strong desire to work with local artists in track building either in Logic Audio, Cubase SX or Pro Tools.
- It is preferable that the client has spent time in a creative recording environment or demonstrate the ability to work well under the musical/training guidance of the lead producer.
- Experience in performing in or observing choirs is a bonus, but not a necessity although at a minimum the candidate must be receptive to the possibility of teaching/demonstrating a melody acapella to large groups.
