Chemonics seeks quality education project officers for an anticipated multiyear program to develop and implement a platform of technical and financial assistance to Moderate Education Directorates affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government. The officers based in Gaziantep, Turkey, will play a central role in supporting relationships with provincial Education Directorates and their district-level Assemblies; assisting in developing and managing activities in full compliance with donor and Chemonics regulations and policies; and supporting management of grants to Syrian NGOs for providing technical assistance to Education Directorate and school staff. Idarah seeks a minimum of three officers to help administer education subawards. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Support program officers in the development and modification of subawards to Syrian partners to implement education delivery
- Collaborate with the subawards manager to maintain complete and accurate subaward files (hard and soft copy) using the Chemonics subawards file checklist
- Print, organize, translate, and prepare subaward payment documentation for review by program officers and chief of party
- Conduct weekly social media checks for relevant subawards and save and print screenshots for subaward files
- Review and reconcile subaward documentation with internal reports and finance files
- Assist the program officers and technical advisors in building the capacity of Syrian partners to implement subawards
- Take initiative to problem-solve in a timely manner
- Balance urgent with routine tasks
- Undertake other duties as assigned by program officers to ensure the overall effective implementation of program activities
Qualifications:
- University degree required; academic specialization in education preferred
- Experience developing and implementing education programming in Syria or with Syrian refugees in neighboring countries required
- Minimum one year of relevant experience working in administration
- Experience is one of the following technical areas required: quality education design and implementation, capacity building of education stakeholders, evaluating the impact of education programming, and psychosocial support or child protection/safeguarding
- Strong organizational, management, and administrative skills, including activity budget development
- Demonstrated analytical ability and understanding of local dynamics, with the ability to creatively solve problems related to both implementation and risk management
- Proven knowledge of Syrian education stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in writing and speaking English and Arabic required
