Position: Field Health Coordinator

Location: Gaziantep, Turkey

Reports to: Program Manager directly, Health Coordinator technically.

Duration : 12 month

Relief International is registered NGO in Turkey and is based in Gaziantep to build capacities of Syrian communities to respond their needs in health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and education.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of program manager and technical supervision of Health coordinator, the position will be responsible to oversee day to day health activities of health services offered at RI supported health facilities. The Field Health Coordinator work with RI supported health facilities medical focal points to apply health services through improved access with availability of appropriate skilled staffing, availability of appropriate drugs, medical supplies and equipment, appropriate health services at the health facility, ensuring training of the staff according to the needs, ensure beneficiary satisfaction, staff accountability on standards of services, timely, accurate and complete reporting, feedback and analysis of the data.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and supervision of assigned healthcare facilities remotely or through monthly visits if security situation allows and share findings with line manager
  • To coordinate with the relevant local health authorities and other health sector actors working in the region or RI interest as may be necessary
  • Coordinate with the Medical Commodities Coordinator ” MCC” to ensure appropriate medical supplies, equipment are ordered and provided to supported health facilities, and support MCC in generating monthly drug consumption reports from the field.
  • Support Program Manager and Health Coordinator in the planning, development and implementation of the projects
  • Support in compiling timely project reports and ensure the gathering of relevant health data, weekly and monthly analysis
  • Support community health coordinator in planning and implementing community health activities and CHW trainings
  • Provide assistance with staffing plans for medical staff in the project health facilities.
  • Serve as EWARN focal point, communicable disease trends as soon as they are noted for follow up.
  • Attend regular meetings with Health unit and Syria Program Department.
  • Support in conducting initial needs assessments and determining areas of assistance.
  • Provide training to doctors about agreed clinical guidelines (EWARN and MSF). Assist in training health staff to build capacity and ensure the maximum use of their skills, and their full and effective participation in health activities whilst conforming to RI and health authority protocols
  • Translate health data as required.
  • Help review and update all program outreach and resource materials to reflect comprehensive program activities.
  • Help cultivate a shared vision, among all staff, of RI’s programmatic aims.
  • Assist in implementation and monitoring and evaluations of programs in line with the approved project proposal and budget.
  • All other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Medical graduate preferably with post-graduation in public health, social work, or related field
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience working with INGOs in humanitarian or development contexts
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret data and to track performance against program indicators
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic
  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with various personalities and cultures
