Badael is a Syrian non-governmental organization committed to strengthening civil society groups (CSG’s) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Syria that are active or want to become active in the promotion of non-violence and in the implementation of activities to reduce the severity of violence, to break its cycle, to respond to the conflict, and to prepare for the process of post-conflict peace-building

Job Summary:

The Communications and Proposal Writing Intern will be responsible for assisting with grants research, drafting proposals, and communications outputs. The Intern will work closely with the Deputy Director and program team to identify relevant calls for proposals that fall in line with the organization's mission and programs, research identified opportunities, and assist with the writing and editing of proposals/communications materials. The right candidate should hold a university degree in Development, international relations, political science or a related field, preferably also holding a post-graduate degree with previous experience in a similar position**.** S/he should also have excellent verbal and written English, and preferably be a native English Speaker.

This is an unpaid internship that will last approximately 16 weeks

Functions:

  • Be familiar with the requirements and formats of different donors.
  • Work closely with Badael deputy director and the program team to develop concept papers based on Badael's strategy.
  • Work closely with the finance officer to ensure that the budget complies with the necessary requirements.
  • Identify any information gaps blocking proposal completion and develop the necessary information to complete.
  • Rapidly revise, update and expand concept papers into full project proposals as recommended by donors.
  • Develop project proposals according to agreed program strategy.
  • Drafting proposal-related documents, including concept notes and budgets.
  • Assist in donor communication when needed.
  • Coordinate and manage the crowd funding campaigns.
  • Produce content for communication and fundraising purposes.
  • Find and revise calls for proposals.
  • Conduct research about potential new programs to be implemented

Qualifications:

  • Related University degree, post graduate level preferred.
  • Fluent in English, English native speaker preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in peace programs.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to apply superb attention to detail and consistently produce timely work.
  • Eagerness to be creative and take initiative on new ideas and projects
