Hand in Hand for Syria

Hand in Hand for Syria is a non-political, non-sectarian organization founded in May 2011 to provide humanitarian relief to people inside Syria. Hand in Hand is registered in the UK with a head office in London and two offices in Turkey. With six international partners, projects cover the health, WASH, shelter, food security, NFI and education sectors and directly employ over 450 field staff inside Syria.

Job Title: WASH Project Coordinator

Reporting to: WASH & Shelter Program Manager

Description:

The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the assessment, design and implementation of the WASH Projects. S/he will need to regularly co-ordinate and communicate with team members, especially logistics team, in order to ensure the effective, day-to-day implementation of project at field sites.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure the proper implementation of the project’s objectives and work plan according to the approved project description,

2. Ensure the compliance of WASH activities with the organization, donor and international standards,

3. Coordinate with donors, contractors, architects and other relevant parties to ensure the high quality of project implementation,

4. Evaluate and determine the quantity and quality of materials, tools and equipment necessary for the project,

5. Supervise the supply of materials and equipment at the worksites and control its usage.

6. Representing the organization when necessary in coordination meetings with other agencies when it is related to WASH,

7. Preparing all project related reports in accordance to the agreed project description, timeframe, objectives and other related matters,

8. Ensure correct data collection and data entry to ensure accurate level of completion reporting,

9. When required, plan and schedule distribution of Hygiene kits and other WASH related commodities,

10. Preparing weekly and monthly reports for the Program Manager as required,

11. Coordinate with other departments as needed to ensure the availability of project needs according to the objectives, needs and available funds of the project,

12. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Skills and Education Required

· University degree in Civil engineering.

· +2 years experience working for NGOs .

· Experience in project management (Sewage projects and construction projects) .

· Proposal writing skills.

· Knowledge of humanitarian standards and codes, including SPHERE is preferred.

· Good command of design software such as Auto Cad and other related software is preferred.

· Strong communication, negotiation and problem solving skills.

· Strong Computer Skills.

· Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

· Knowledge of Writing the technical conditions for tenders related projects
