About Point
POINT was established by a group of humanitarian workers and its headquarter is in Gaziantep, Turkey. As an organic non-governmental organization, the co-founders of PONT realized the crucial capacity gaps and needs for the civil society and communities to play a greater role in improving the response to the humanitarian crisis and better contribute to the stabilization of their conflict-affected country. POINT provides capacity development to the local civil society and communities actors as well as local staff in INGOs. This is in order to strengthen their voice, increase their impact and bring about the development of diverse, inclusive and independent civil society and communities.
POINT Vision
To build and develop the capacity of individuals and groups in local communities, and enhance peace-building activities for better disaster response and risk reduction.
Main Tasks
✓ Develop the project charter for project
✓ Arranging the kick off meeting with project staff and partners
✓ Supporting the Program manager in developing the ToR of new staff inside Syria
✓ Develop and implementing the work plan defining clear milestone, and a contingency plan in collaboration with the project assistant;
✓ Follow up activities related to:
Basic (Social and Economic) Infrastructure Rehabilitation
Sustainable Financing of Vocational Training
Alternative Project Ownership Modalities - Livelihood Grant Support
Local Spatial Planning, Implementation and Livelihoods
Village Micro-Credit associations
✓ Direct and coordinate the work of the project coordinator inside Syria and the project’s team.
✓ Implementation:
Planning the different phases of implementation with the Program Coordinator inside Syria;
Harmonize the implementation phase with the monitoring activities needed during the project;
Manage all the sides of the project at logistics and practical level;
Always keep the contact with all the parties involved both internal and external;
Evaluate the implemented activities and guarantee an efficient usage of the resources.
Coordinating with Financial Department.
Implement with media department in developing media plan
✓ Reviewing the plans regularly to ensure tasks and milestones are being achieved in a timely manner.
✓ Take an active part in the project issue/risk management process, by contributing to the identification and prioritization of existing and potential issues and risks, and helping to develop strategies and controls to mitigate these.
✓ Check project compliance with MEAL department, and highlight any issues to the Program Manager.
✓ Provide a skilled facilitation service to support the project team in achieving the project expectations.
✓ Build and maintain effective communications with senior managers, stakeholders, other project team members
Minimum skills and qualification
✓ At least three years work experience, with relevant tasks, in emergency contexts; good knowledge of the humanitarian aid system with a special focus on Community based projects;
✓ Previous experience in remote project management;
✓ Proved strategic capacity in the identification of new opportunities and project proposals;
✓ Previous work experience in management of emergency projects;
✓ High interpersonal skills with a strong analytical approach in problem solving and management;
✓ Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Arabic.
✓ Background knowledge of the regional context is preferable.
Monitoring
✓ Coordinating with the MEAL coordinator for developing the monitoring process.
✓ Ensure the performance of high quality standards throughout the whole project;
✓ Collect technical information, manage risks and new opportunities for projects;
✓ Lead constant quality control system;
✓ Analyze and report strengths and weaknesses of the project;
✓ Evaluate the project activities during the implementation phase and afterwards.
Knowledge management
✓ Gather information and tools used during the implementation of the project;
✓ Elaborate notes with details of the best practices and lessons learned during the project;
✓ Share the notes with the Program Manager, relevant staff, POINT’s and project partners.
Education and Experience:
✓ University degree in in Business administration, international development or a field related. Strong previous experience in general program management.
Reporting:
✓ Prepare narrative reports and contribute to the development of financial reports, in collaboration with the relevant admin staff in the POINT;
✓ Prepare project status reports, presentations, agendas etc.
✓ Guarantee effective and constant information flow with the Program Manager.
