Position Profile
Roia is growing its programs department to reflect its growing responsibility as a provider of innovative solutions for positive social impact inside Syria. The program intern will work full time on Roia’s livelihoods portfolio and report directly to the manager of the department. The intern will be responsible for assisting in implementing ICT-based projects designed to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable peoples in Syria and neighbouring counties. The ideal candidate joining our team will be a self-motivated multi-tasker possessing exceptional organisational skills with a sound knowledge of the Syrian context. We value initiative and creative problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication in both Arabic and English is essential for the position.
The position is unpaid but includes a stipend to cover travel and accommodation costs. In the event of a salaried vacancy arising at Roia, the intern will be given preferential consideration.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist the programs department with project design and needs assessments.
- Work with the programs department to develop and implement workplans.
- Coordinate with field staff Coordination with field staff.
- Coordinate with field staff to gather project essential information and deliver reports to the programs manager.
- Other duties as may arise from time to time and as may be assigned to the employee.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
- Bachelor or MA degree in field related to development or humanitarian action.
- Professional competency in both English and Arabic language.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to write effective reports and evaluate/feedback written reports.
- Experience of working effectively as part of a team.
Desired
- Familiarity with project management cycle
- Experience with project design (including budgeting, Logical framework and designing work plans etc).
- Turkish language ability
