Main responsibilities:
The Implementation Project Manager will be responsible for overall implementation planning and management of a new Hospital Information System and prepare the project team for the implementation. They will manage workflow analysis and optimization, needs analysis and communication, metadata design, release management, risk mitigation, training, infrastructure design, and if needed, participate in the recruitment of a team.
Under the overall responsibility of the PC, they will work collaboratively with the project’s medical department. The Implementation Project Manager will also work with the eHealth Unit based in New York for technical support.
The Implementation Project Manager must have a strong background in data management, including informatics, monitoring and evaluation, and/or research. The candidate should have an aptitude for strategizing and carrying out work plans, and proven experience in leadership and team building.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Workflow Analysis and Optimization
‘Walk the patient pathway’ by observing and mapping each step in the care process to analyze where improvements can be made.
Review and optimize departmental interactions and communications.
Project Management
Create and share a clear work plan for all releases
Liaise with relevant department managers
Identify, analyze, and prepare risk mitigation tactics.
Identify and manage anticipated resistance.
Identify downstream impact on workflow, patient flow, information management and hospital processes as the system is implemented.
Work with logistics and hospital management to ensure infrastructure upgrades are delivered on time.
Release Management, Requirements Gathering and Communication
Create and communicate high-level functional requirements based on the results of user interviews, process documentation, and other business analysis.
Work with the eHealth Unit in New York and Thought Works (software developers) team to translate functional requirements into actionable release plans.
Collect and document best practices and algorithms that can be used to facilitate decision support for clinicians and other end users.
Facilitate the development of end user system documentation.
Content and Metadata Development
Work with clinical and non-clinical staff to map workflows and processes and identify requirements for data collection, reporting, and use.
Work with clinical and non-clinical staff to construct metadata model
Work with clinical staff to mock up patient summaries that will be included in the system
Work with clinical and non-clinical staff to mock up hospital performance metric that will be included in the system
Team duties/Hierarchical accountability
Engage in weekly or as needed communication with the Thought Works Business Analyst communicating requirements
Recruits and trains EMR/HIS Manager on implementation tasks
Engage in weekly or as needed communication with the eHealth EMR Team Lead in New York
Provide Feedback to EMR Steering Committee/Project on project status
Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and several events to participate in information sharing across all departments,

Qualifications:
- Diploma in medicine, nursing or pharmacy, Masters of Public Health in epidemiology, or equivalent degree in a related field.
Experience:
At least four years of experience in medical informatics, monitoring and evaluation, and/or research, or other relevant experience relating to the management of information systems.
Knowledge and experience in statistical software packages (STATA, SAS, R), and/or business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau) is required
Previous hospital management and project management experience
Excellent management and communication skills.
Ability to take initiative and work with minimal direction.
Previous experience in humanitarian medical care is an asset.
Experience in programming languages such as SQ is desirable.
