General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population.

Orange partners directly with affected Syrian populations delivering humanitarian and development programmes, Food Security, Livelihood, Education, and Protection, to enable them to improve their living practices and their sustainability mechanisms.

Orange also collaborates with national and international non-governmental organizations, local initiatives responding to the humanitarian Syrian crisis with capacity development programmes, to be better equipped with the skills they need to prepare and respond to affected population’s needs and to ensure that these communities, which we work within, are ready for any future disasters.

Job Purpose:

Orange Organization aims to improve shelter adequacy for all, but particularly the specific needs of female members of the selected households by match the beneficiaries with training courses and awareness sessions that provide appropriate options for their future income generation potential based on the type of disability, the vocation, and their own interest. Social cohesion activities will also seek mainstream messages to promote gender equality and the rights of at-risk groups by focusing on shared interest topics, such as active citizenship or community problem-solving.

The Shelter Empowerment Project Assistant will be line managed by the shelter empowerment project coordinator and responsible for implementing Cohesion and Livelihoods Opportunities through Shelter Empowerment (CLOSE) activities in the targeted location within the Orange’s program framework and line with Orange’s standards. The officer will be responsible for leading and overseeing the implementation of planned activities, participating in designing tools, and overall supervision of the activities to ensure proper implementation with full adherence to donors’ requirements.

Duties, objectives and competencies:

§ Strong focus on organizational tasks

§ Strong collaboration with the other project team

§ Ensure community mobilization in the field

§ Liaise with communities and beneficiaries as needed and carry out daily implementations of field activities.

§ Carry out beneficiary identification, selection, training, development activities and sensitization as needed or requested.

§ Work with Orange management and comply with rules and procedures.

§ Assist with weekly and monthly planning and reporting to the Project Coordinator and Project Officer.

§ Keep the direct supervisors regularly updated on all issues related to the project activities.

§ Carry out daily implementation of field activities as required/directed.

§ Assist Project Officer in ensure correct and accountable documentation of all activities, including checking attendance sheets, stock reports, meeting minutes, along with ensuring that all necessary amounts or signatures are collected.

§ Participate in Needs and Market assessments when needed.

§ Use basics of participatory/joint approaches based upon the context of the types of the emergency.

§ Assist Project Officer in distributing the kits according to the project criteria and work plan.

§ Perform any other duty as assigned by the direct supervisors. **

Requirements:

§ Business administration, Civil Engineering, Economy, or relevant field of study.

§ At least 2 years of proven work experience within the field of shelter and livelihoods project implementation in Turkey;

§ Excellent proven technical knowledge;

§ Strong communication skills, including the ability to coordinate with multiple parties and external stakeholders;

§ Very good reporting skills;

§ Sound judgment and ability to make impartial recommendations;

§ Very good computer skills including MS office.

§ Excellent English and Arabic language skills (spoken, written and reading), Turkish will be an asset;

§ Experience delivering capacity building training and materials development is preferred;

§ Hard-working, proactive and able to prioritise and delegate a demanding workload.

§ Turkish Nationality is required for this position.
